Tried everything recommended here:
https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/solvednvidia-display-driver-stopped-working-and-has-recovered/
The Sims 4 is the only game to do this. I did try to switch Origin off. Yes, it is using the correct GPU. After a few minutes it simply crashes my graphics driver.

Have you tried rolling back your drivers to the last drivers instead those new ones and did you try this tool: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html ?

yeah, I've used DDU to remove old drivers and I tried rolling back a few versions. Still does it. Waiting for my husband to come back home to attempt to slot in a 1050, instead of a 970, to see if that helps.
