@storybookwhims  Well, that's a lot of errors.  The good thing is, none of them are particularly special, meaning they should be fixable.  First, to be thorough, please run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, manually reinstall DirectX 9, which you can do without uninstalling it first.  I wrote out instructions for other players here:

Finally, uninstall Origin using Revo Uninstaller and reinstall it:

• Quit Origin if it's still open, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
• Next, clear Origin's cache.
• Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
• Launch Revo again and uninstall Origin, and when it's uninstalled, select "Moderate" again and Scan.
• If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
• Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders.  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears.  (This is where Origin games are installed by default.)  Delete the rest.
• Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, download the full Origin installer and run it.  Here's the direct download link:

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin, and restart after it's installed.  Run Sims 4 as an admin as well.

Once you've done all this, if the game still doesn't start, I'd like to see any new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  The above should address most of the previous errors, but perhaps not all of them.

@puzzlezaddict First of all, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. When I tried to launch Windows Terminal, it stated that "Windows couldn't find wt.exe." There was also no Powershell listed, so I'm not quite sure what to do from here.

@storybookwhims  Just checking, but are you still trying to play with a clean Sims 4 folder, or have you put the old one back?  I don't think these errors are related to user data, but it's better to be thorough.

Please manually uninstall and reinstall the VC++ runtimes Sims 4 uses.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall any versions you see that are from 2015 or newer.  (Don't touch the older versions.)  You can download new ones from Microsoft:

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the newest (2015-2022) runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

@storybookwhims  Okay, it may be time for a more serious intervention here.  First though, try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of your graphics driver.  Download a fresh copy of the driver listed for Picasso/Dali (your laptop's processor is in the Dali family) from the HP product page you linked me before.  Then use this guide to clean uninstall and reinstall the driver:

Restart after installing and before trying to play.

If that doesn't help, I think it's best to do a repair install of Windows, given the types of errors that keep showing up.  Here's how:

However, your laptop's SSD is low enough on storage that I wouldn't recommend running the process using an ISO, at least not as-is.  Either clear at least another 12-15 GB space, or use the tool to create a USB install medium as linked in the guide below.  For the latter, all you'll need is a USB device with at least 4 GB storage and that you don't mind erasing.  Even with the USB, I'd recommend clearing as much space as you reasonably can—while it's possible to repair-install Windows 10 from USB with so little free storage, Windows 11 might be more finicky.  But the process will check your free storage anyway, so you'll just get an error if you don't have enough.

This process allows you to keep all your personal files and programs, but if you get to step 14 and do NOT see the option to keep your personal data, back out and start over.
