little update: i can't launch game because of the same error from disk or without internet (in the second case nothing happens - no error - no game starting)

I recently had to switch from Origin to the EA App, after switching I decided to do a test to see if my games would successfully launch. Sims 3 would not launch, even after I ran a repair on it

@avickiehilaire The location where you've installed Sims 3 shouldn't matter here. On one of my computers, I installed it through Origin into the Origin Games folder, and the EA App has no problem with that even though the App is set to install into a different folder.
For the issue itself, it might be fixed now (as opposed to a couple days ago when you last tested), so please clear the App's cache again and try to play.

@AlestSims Please try again now, while connected to the internet. This issue might be fixed (maybe).

@KyThePotato Try again now. There was a temporary error with Sims 3 and the EA App that may be resolved now.

@avickiehilaire Okay, try uninstalling Sims 3 and reinstalling it into a different folder than the one where it is now.

Reinstalled game and repaired it but nothing new... same issue. Thanks for your help!

i have the same problem since last thursday. i just reported my problem to the EA. so i'm waiting for their response. hopefully there's a change by now. this is my report ID :
