This has probably been discussed a lot but I did a search and haven't found a specific answer...
I had Sims 4 on CD ROM and used Origin to play it and all the expansions/packs I had. I wanted to buy some add ons in the Steam sale so I did a search and saw that I would need to own the base game in Steam to be able to use the add ons I buy via Steam (but my Origin add ons would transfer) - So, I bought the Legacy edition on Steam and then Dream Home Decorator pack on Steam also. I played for several hours with all content appearing.
Today I logged on and the game wouldn't open either through Steam or Origin. I googled the error message I had and saw I had to download the base game in Origin (I assumed I had as it had been working last night). I did that and started it up and my save game was nowhere to be found (even though Steam shows the gameplay time from last night)
oh well, I thought, and started a new game only to get halfway through decorating to realise that Dream Decorator pack isn't showing - no items or options. I checked Origin and everything is showing as downloaded, but on the opening screen of the base game (where it shows you which packs/expansions you have) I notice that Dream Home Decorator and Star Wars pack aren't there even thought they're showing in Origin?
I'm just getting really confused and bogged down by it all now! Any advice?
I'm on a PC if that helps. 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks!

@lifeofholly Your saves should be in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves, but if you installed the Legacy Edition and are currently running it, the game would use a folder called "The Sims 4 Legacy Edition" in the same place. This folder wouldn't contain your old saves, and saves from the Legacy Edition folder wouldn't show up if you switched back to the standard version of Sims 4.
Anyway, at this point, what you need to do is uninstall the game through Origin and install the base game and Dream Home Decorator through Steam. Once you do that, sign into Origin and download the other packs you own. Before uninstalling, it's a good idea to put aside the Sims 4 folder(s) in Documents so nothing gets deleted. Even though it's not supposed to, it does happen.
If you can't find your saves after the reinstall and want help looking for them, please let me know.

Thank you so much!! Just finally managed to get enough spare time to test this and it's all working again now.
Thanks for your help.
