Sims 4 won't launch after installing mods

Unable to start:
Cannot start because the required game data is missing or damaged. Please try reinstalling the game.

I get the error after installing mods/custom content and I follow instructions only putting .package files only but when i do put them in the mods folder and try loading the game i get that error and then when i delete all the mods and reinstall sims 4 it works. so can i not have custom content/mods?

You can have them, only some can't handle the last update.

The same thing has been happening to me, I went through everything, I even did the 50/50 method, but nothing's helping. Any suggestions?

Take the complete folder out and try the game @smtowngrl27. If that doesn't work please make an own topic about it.

me too when i put cc in the game its doesnt let me in when i take it out it does and ive re installed the game but its still the same and the cc does say .package at the end please help the game is sooooo boring without cc

If your CC is broken try contacting the maker of it. 
To see what the broken CC is, take them all out and put them back in batches, test the game in between. When the game stops working you know where to look.

OMG! Thank you.

Ok so what i did was:

1)Take out the mods folder (then it replaces itself once restarted) and put it on desktop

2)go into the game

3) get out of game

4)Take each piece individually and put them in.

5) After putting each individual cc in, go into the game and see if it works

6) If it does work, get out of the game and continue step 4 and 5

7) if it doesn't work delete that individual cc that you put in

8) check to see if it works now

9) continue until all wanted working cc is in game and the game works

And there you have it, that's how I got it to work

Approximately a third of my package files or more  prevent the game from loading. I've tried the 50/50 method but obviously that couldn't work because there was just too much. I have around 6,000 files some of them new, and I've been going through my favourites singly which is enough to make you cry. At first I thought it might have been the game so I repaired it and when that made no difference I uninstalled it and reinstalled again. Nothing's changed.
