I have recently installed Windows 8.1 after loading the latest Radeon HD 5800 drivers as well as my motherboard drivers. However, I have not been able to get Sims 4 to start.
The sims 4 demo starts and runs without issue yet when I start Sims 4 the mouseicon changes to a origin loading circle that spins a couple of times then stops. Nothing happens after this and no error is presented.
Here are my directx settings: http://pastebin.com/YM1PrJUe
I have tried the following without sucess:
- Changing the parameteres to windowed mode
- Running Origin in compatibility mode
- Running origin/sims4 as administrator
- repairing x64 & x32 vcredist from the _installation folder of sims 4
- Rebooting
- Reinstalling Sims 4
Any help would be appreciated. It has been only 24 hours since my purchase and I also have no option to request a refund. It takes me right back to this help page!

Hi,
it seems you're using a beta graphics drivers. Try reverting to the last release version.

Thankyou for replying. This appears to be the same issue that at least 70 others are experiencing in this thread: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/Sims-4-wont-start/m-p/3453917#U3453917
I downgraded my drivers from beta to standard without sucess.

In addition I have tried the other troubleshooting techniques of:
- Deleting /appdata and /programdata origin files and starting origin in offline mode / running the COMODO firewall (Sims4 gets further but advises that it cannot run unactivated and closes)
- running the sims4 client in windows 7 compatability mode with 640x480 (screen goes black and returns to desktop)

Maybe better to post in the other thread then.
