Sims 4 crashing after update

★★ Novice

I've tried reinstalling/repairing the sims 4 and the ea app. I've done a clean boot. Attached is my dxdiag. This issue seems to have started after the update. Hopefully someone can help.😅

Re: Sims 4 crashing after update

@MrFrelix29  Please try reinstalling DirectX 9.  You don't need to uninstall anything; just download the installer from Microsoft and run it over the top.  I wrote out how to do so for other players here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/SIMS-3-GAME-WON-T-LAUNCH-WINDOWS-10/m-p/10711778#M2478...

If that doesn't help and you have any mods or custom content installed at all, please move the entire Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package, then test.  You can try a new save if you don't want to load your existing one without the content.

If that doesn't help either, or you don't use mods or cc, please let me know if there's any pattern to the crashing, for example if it only happens when you're in CAS or when your sims travel, or only at a certain sim-time of day.  Please also upload a lastcrash file, if you have one.  You can find instructions for how to do so in this post if you scroll down a bit:

Make sure the file has a timestamp from after you removed the Mods folder, if you use mods or cc, or at the very least from after you reinstall DirectX 9.

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.
