Sims 4 University - No progress bar and weird issues with location

Sims 4 University Expansion:

 I installed this expansion and started a university course, there is no progress bar! I failed 2 of four of my course on my first attempt. If I do not study constantly for 1 course, it fails. I don't have any way that seems to be useful for checking how well I am doing.

Not only that, when I try to select a 'home' offsite after my course is done, there is no loading screen or anything to help me select where to live.

Am I playing this wrong? Sims 3 had a progress bar and it made it easier to know how well I was doing.
