Sims 4 HELP!!!!!!!

I got the sims 4 for my Birthday today and when i put the disc in nothing loads. I can't installed it. Did everything the little leaflet says to do if it doesn't load and still nothing. My laptop says the disc isn't formated and needs to be formated. what does this even mean??? Please help!!!!! Sims = Life!!!!!
