Sims 4: Game stuck on loading when I try to travel to other lots

Ever since downloading eco lifestyle as well as the update for national hispanic heritage month (occurred same day so I don’t know which one could be attributed to my issues) my game play is painfully slow. 

Additionally, when I try to travel to different lots (doesn’t matter if alone or with another sim) the screen gets stuck on the loading wheel. The wheel keeps spinning, the screen is gray, my sims are doing their thing and time is going by but the screen never changes. I can’t click on anything and the only way to fix it is to force shut down the game and lose my gameplay since I cannot save. 

Anyone able to help? Please!
