Sims 4 Crashes [ Edited ]

Dear Origin:

 I keep trying to contact you by chat because it states that the wait is under five minutes; however, the I keep waiting for over an hour and nobody contacts me. My Sims 4 keeps crashing whenever I try to build something or use the gallery. I need to know if this is a game issue and if I need to get a new base game. If I get a new game, would the two packs that I brought transfer to the new game or would I need to buy them again as well and if so why?

The good news is that you should not require to purchase a new base game.

As for the chat issue, you could try using another browser, clearing your browser's cache, restoring browser settings to default and ensuring that no third party browser extensions are interfering.
