Sims 4: CAS Issues

★ Novice

This started happening about a month ago, and it won't stop.

Every time I create a female sim that is older than a child, I encounter problems when I change her hair. Once I choose a new hairstyle, the thumbnail of the little face at the bottom of the CAS screen just turns into the green loading symbol, and when I go to save the household it freezes in the middle of saving or me taking a new picture of the household.

I have tried looking everywhere to see if anyone has had this problem, but I haven't seen it.

With this issue, I also can't see their faces in any of the thumbnails in play mode, for example thumbnails of children's faces while adopting a child, the bar that shows your sims' moods, the faces at the top as you interact with another random sim, etc.

Does ANYONE just so happen to know what could be happening here/have a similar issue?

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Yes. I can try taking them out again and seeing if it does anything. It did happen after I dowloaded a bunch of CC at once, but I removed all of it that I got that day and it still didn't help. I'll try again though. (this happens with DEFAULT hair too, which is REALLY weird)
