Finally got the demo... downloaded and getan error that it has stopped working. I updated my drivers... posted my dxdiag under the spoiler. Any help much appreciated!!

So I think I got it working. I had to change the program compatbility. I will try again tomorrow and if it works again, I will post the results.

Yes...I did get it working. It was a compatibility issue with Windows XP I believe....and I dont have that on this computer anymore.
Could you tell me with the diag that I posted if Sims 4 will run on this computer?

It fulfills the minimum requirements, yes but I don't know how it's going to be when you start adding Expansions.
Also, Sims 3 also had a minimum requirement of 2 GB of RAM and it needed way more so at this point, there's no way of telling. I do believe that CAS could be an indication on how it runs. It works pretty well on my very old machine and if it works well on yours, you should be fine. I can't give you any guarantees though.
If you buy Sims 4 on Origin though, you have a 24 hours trial period. If it doesn't work, you can give it back within that timeframe
