Sims 3 won't start

Just to be clear

1. You start Origin
2. You press play on the Sims 3 game
3. Nothing happens from there ?

Have you ever checked what processes pop up in the task manager ?

No. I press play in Origin, the launcher pops open. Here I click on the blue play-button, and then nothing happens, but Origin popping up.

Can you open the task manager before you play on the launcher and then check which process start running ? 

Does activationUI.exe or ts3.exe run and then close ?

Nothing starts, the launcher just closes, and Origin opens.

Could you check if you have this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims3\ ?

Yes, I do have that one.

Can you rename it to documents\electronicarts\thesims3_BACKUP\ and then start the game again and see if it works then ?

I've also tried that. I just don't think I'll ever be able to play Sims on this computer.
