Sims 3 won't run

I have decided to play Sims 3 on my origin account but on a new computer, and it has been a couple of years since I've played it. I have installed origin again and let all my expansion packs download again but when I got to play the game it minimises origin and brings it back up again and comes up with a notification that some thing is still downloading which there isn't. It wont let me uninstall it or redeem the code again

@natalae  Are you running Windows or mac OS?  In Windows, the first thing to try is repairing your game in Origin.  Right-click on the TS3 icon in your game library to see the option.  If that doesn't help, you can try clearing Origin's cache, and if that doesn't help, uninstalling and reinstalling Origin itself ("the hard way").

If you're playing on a mac, you don't need to have Origin open to play; just launch the game directly from its alias in Applications.  But if you need to, you can run the mac-specific Origin reset tool.  If that doesn't work, you canreset it again and then do a manual uninstall of Origin; instructions are different than above.
