Sims 3 won't launch - One drive deleting files - windows 11

★★ Novice

I just received a new gaming laptop for my birthday, and I cannot load Sims 3. Sims 4 loads up and plays just fine but I can't get past the launcher for Sims 3. When I load up sims from Origin and the launcher pops up, the message also pops up about the One Drive files. (Picture attached) I've tried so many things based on all of the preexisting threads, but nothing is working. I ran a dxdiag on my computer and that is attached as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@spaniels20  This error has nothing to do with .NET Framework 3.5.  Rather, it's an issue with 12th-gen Intel (Alder Lake) processors that's been around since these came onto the market.  The problem is that Sims 3 doesn't load properly on these CPUs, and the workaround is to limit the game to one core during the initial loading process.  Please see this thread for more information, both the accepted solution on page one and the discussion of other approaches on page 5:

For the OneDrive issue, it's better to address that now rather than later, as in, before you have any Sims 3-related data to lose.  If you don't have a particular use for OneDrive, I'd suggest unlinking it entirely:

If you do want it to sync some of your data, at the very least tell it not to sync the contents of Documents:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/choose-which-onedrive-folders-to-sync-to-your-computer-98...

Please also make sure that your default Documents location is on your computer and not within OneDrive.  You can see the location by opening a File Explorer window, right-clicking on Documents in the left panel, and selecting Properties > Location.  If OneDrive is part of the file path, you can change the default location to Users\your username\Documents like this:

@spaniels20 Sims 3 launcher requires .net framework 3.5 to run This in included with Windows but not activated. You need to go to settings - apps - go down and click programs and features - turm Windows features on or off. The first item should be .net framework 3.5. If the box is emty click the box and then click ok. Let Windows finish installing .net framework. Once finished restart computer - try game. As for OneDrive - do you use OneDrive? If you use OneDrive (I don't) you will need to configure OneDrive to ignore the Electrictronic Arts folder in the user documents folder. If you don't use OneDrive just don't sign into OneDrive.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you so much for your help! My sims 3 finally opened and is running great! I do use my one drive for my schoolwork, so I pause the syncing for gameplay.
