Sims 3 update problem

When I click play on my Sims 3, a notice pops up stating "New Store Content Patch Available" with 3 options to click. Nothing happens when I click these and then the pop up stays on my screen and I can't move it. Very annoying. I just want t update the game so I can play, I don't want to download new store content. Please help.

@zoecoco42 the best thing I have found is to very quickly click "yes" as it opens.
