Sims 3 stops or lags since getting island paradise.

★★ Novice

Hi there, hope all is well with everyone. I recently bought the origin island paradise ep and since then I've been having problems with the game stopping / freezing up for a short time. I don't know how to describe it exactly but it's frustrating. Anyone know how I can resolve this problem??? Thanks!!!

@crunchies4you  I know exactly what you're describing.  There are of course a number of potential causes of lag in TS3, but two come to mind immediately.  The first is that your computer is underpowered to run Island Paradise, which is one of the most demanding packs.  If you'd like to know how your hardware would be expected to handle IP, you can run a dxdiag and attach it to a post here.

The more likely issue is the fact that the world of Isla Paradiso itself is broken.  It's so poorly built that it's almost unplayable without edits.  But a player named ciane fixed the world and provided her work for download, if you're interested.  You could use her existing save, or just copy her edits into your own game; she documented everything needed to make IP playable.

Or you could use the features of the pack in a different world.  They work just fine and can be placed anywhere that has the space and deep enough water.

island paradise is by far the most buggy world. the ai in general got huge pathfinding problems but is especially bad since they travel by boat. that world freezes to find time for the ai to find a new route to go on

@chubbbychaser  Ellacharmed fixed the underlying world issues, i.e. those having to do with routing paint and the like, but didn't have time to edit the lots themselves.  If you read over the thread on removing IP lag I linked earlier, you'll see descriptions of the broken houses and what you might need to edit or replace.  All the repairs together are a bit of overkill for someone who's using mods or knows how to fix things themselves, but the provided save runs very well for most players, so it's a convenient shortcut for those who don't want to put in the work themselves.
