Sims 3 requires a disc

I have just installed and paid for sims 3 on origin after losing my disc. It refuses to play it. It gets to the startup screen and when I press play it requests the disc. I don't understand what I paid for if it requires a disc, and I don't know how to get a refund if it won't work. I've been trying to call EA but they are taking ages to pick up and it is costing me money to call them. Please help!

In order to use the download version, you have to manually uninstall your disc version and replace it with the download version.

Are you on PC or MAC so I can give you further instructions on how to uninstall.

Second if you registered your disc with the sims 3 web or origin you automatically get a download version of your disc. There is no need for you to pay for another copy. You can contact EA for a refund.
