I've just found all my old Sims 3 games and have been going back and fourth with EA support for 3 days now, trying to explain to them I would not have access to a email I had when I was a child. It went nowhere so I gave up and just bought them all again online.
NOW the new problem is that when I go to launch them from the EA app, the sims screen pops up so I press play but then nothing happens and it just takes me back to the EA app..

I have uninstalled EA app and the Sims 3, then installed them again. Also download that directX

@Cancerfuel If your computer has a 12th- or 13th-gen Intel processor, please see the accepted solution of this thread:
Apply the workaround of your choice to TS3.exe, without the W, since you've installed through the EA App.
Otherwise, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@Cancerfuel That's the correct TS3. Windows is set to hide file extensions, but it's the same file regardless. And you're not supposed to double-click this TS3 or anything like that. You're supposed to either select it when running the Lazy Duchess patch, or use the Task Manager method to limit it to one CPU core. Take your pick, or try the PowerShell script, which includes both TS3.exe and TS3W.exe.
