Sims 3 game won't work after buying expansion pack

I've been playing the base game of the sims 3 for a good two weeks now, and I just bought the University expansion pack, now my game won't work at all. It just freezes on the "maxis" screen and never loads. please help!

Could you please post your DxDiag? To post the Dxdiag select the 'Choose File' button below the post box and attach your DxDiag text file. 

Also do you use any custom content or mods?
