Sims 3 game crashes after downloading sims 4

I got the Sims 3 about 4-5 years ago and have loved it and played it for years. I got the Sims 4 last year, and ever since having the sequel, my TS3 game crashes after the family loads in. I have no mods or CC in the Sims 3 and never have. Please help!

@elliekip  Please move your entire Sims 3 game folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Launch the game, which will create a clean folder with no content.  Start a new save—no need to spend a lot of time on it; this is just for testing—play for a bit, save, quit, reload, and see whether you can play the new save again.

If you can, the issue is something in your old game folder, maybe a cache file or the like.  You can transfer your existing content from your old game folder to the new one in batches, testing each one to make sure the game still works, although not everything needs to be moved.
