Sims 3 freezes before logo

I just installed an update for The Sims 3 and now the game freezes when I start it before the logo shows on the screen. I am not sure, but I think it might be because of the update as my game was working fine before that. Could someone help me fix this please?! I would really like to be able to play Sims on my computer as it is a long time before The Sims 4 comes out.

This is my computer. I just bought it like 2 months ago.

Restart your computer, close any running application or background utilities, this will free up CPU time and RAM space. Try running the game again.

If that doesn't work try a System Restore, it could be that there was a file that might have been changed or removed. Press the Start button and type System Restore on the search box. Chose a date before you installed the new update and after the restore is finished try running the game.

Ok. I restored my system to before the update. Now my Sims doesn't even open. I just get a message from Windows saying that the program has stopped working. I did not install the update again. Should I update it and see if it works? Is there anything I can do to possibly improve my chances of the update working?
