Sims 3: When playing, Graphic card "stops working" after the new update, windows 7

★ Novice

After the new patch some day ago, my sims 3 keeps chrashing. First is was after playing several hours, now it's as soon as the game is loaded.

The screen gets black, seems to try to adjust and then nothing. If anyting else is open I don't exit the game fast, the computer chrashes. If I am quick I can get out close the game via taskmanager. Windows states there is an error with the graphic card, it "stoped working".

I have windows 7
Playing via Steam
Have been playing Sims for years on this computer without any problems.
It seems the problem appeared after the latest update.

I hope you can help me
Maja

Some computers with below minimum requirements may play the game but how well and for how long remains to be seen. Intel graphics chips are not gamers choice. Intel tends to provide stable video drivers and are NOT made for hard graphical gaming. The Intel graphics chip has come a long way but still is more multi media then gaming. If your chip is Intel then you have to go to Intel site. But if your computer is a laptop I recommend starting at the manufacturer's web site as laptop may have unique drivers. Drivers from the chip manufacturer are call reference driver and may not support all the laptop was made to do. Welcome to the whorld of computer gaming.

First your computer has the weakiest of the Intel I series cpus. There is only 64mb of dedicated video memory which is below the minimum of 128mb required. The video driver is from 2010 and is out of date. I'm having trouble finding data about the model so I think it's out of production and probably does NOT have a gaming video chip.

Weird it hasn't been a problem before. But I will search for updates of th videodriver and hope it works. Else it seems like there is nothing t do about it? You have any idea why it have worked so far?

Mmm... not used to read the dxdiag files. Can you tell me the name of the video driver Ishould update?

Thank you for the help Standard smile
