Sims 3 Pet Glitch

Whenever I adopt a pet from the shelter it glitches out and makes it so whenever I switch between those in my household it still shows the picture of the pet I adopted and I can't access life wishes or anything else. Is there anyway to fix this?

Did you try restarting the game ? That usually solves it.

Save under a new name before attempting.
