Sims 3 Merging packages

I need help merging my Sims 3 CC. I have all my CC in my mods folder under the packages file. I want to merge my clothes and hair as one to help my game performance. Can I merge my clothes and hair together or do they have to be separated? Example: Hair packages have to be merged with hair, and same goes for clothes. OR can I merge all of it as one? and can I then save the merged files back into my mods folder under packages still? Thank-you for your help.
