Sims 3 Launcher "There are no packages to install"

@TheSwissOpossum  Please test in a cleaan user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  If the folder copies instead of  moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, download a fresh copy of one item, and see whether it installs properly.  Let me know either way.  And keep using the workaround in post 11.

@puzzlezaddict Update: its working as of yesterday. i was able to re-install all my purchased items and was even able to re-install those that were already downloaded. i just have to make sure that i go to the settings before each play to be sure they are set correctly. sadly lost all my custom content, but thats ok at least i was able to get my purchased items. now......i can't play at all because i'm getting the error of "restart the app" so i dont know if there is a bug on EA's end or mine.

@eureeka79  Try force-updating the App.  Go here:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

and launch the EAUpdater.exe, then restart your computer when it's done.  If you get an error, restart your computer and try again.

If that doesn't work either, remove the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstall it using a freshly-downloaded copy of the installer.
