Sims 3 EA Server Error-XBOX

Just bought this game for my little cousin. It worked the first day and hasn’t worked ever since—about a week. I spent almost $20 on this game and don’t understand why it won’t connect. “There has been a problem connecting with the EA server. Please try again.”—I’ve tried 100 times and nothing happens.

@bc_caldwell97  Unfortunately, EA's servers for the console versions of TS3 were shut down over the summer.  Here's the official announcement:

Can your cousin still play the game?  It should run without any connection to EA servers.  If not, please let me know, and I'll ask around for some troubleshooting advice.
