@xxxgamadamxxx  I don't really understand what you're asking.  I get that you're talking about the thumbnails that show sims in the family tree and relationship panel, but what do you want to know about those images?

What determines their appearance, some simki blink, some have a good head and some smiling face. Are these poses randomly set or does it depend on the mood?

@xxxgamadamxxx  I know that the thumbnails for your active sims change with mood, but I've never paid attention to the ones in the family tree or relationship panel.  You may be right that those change with mood as well.  You could test the theory on your own sims: when you notice one of them has a very high or low mood, check the relationship panel of another sim in your household, to see if anything looks different.
