Sim 4 Cooking error

★★★ Newbie

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.50.67.1020

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Only Holiday Celebration Pack
Steps:

How can we find the bug ourselves? Cook meals that only use the mixing bowl. (Any salads, cakes, grand meals etc.)
What happens when the bug occurs? The sim starts to prepare the meal that involves using a mixing bowl and they will stop the interaction out of nowhere. When you click on the meal again and tell the sim to finish preparing it they wave their hands around and show the thought bubble that they cannot get to the meal. There are plenty of counters to use. There is nothing in the oven, it's a new house. There is nothing on the floor and there is nothing on top of the stove. The Sim CAN grill, use the microwave, coffee machine etc. The problem only occurs when the Sim is trying to use a bowl. Also, the Sim cannot use the stove at all.
What do you expect to see? The sim to finish the meal and continue to cook as normal.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes, after adding some CC. The CC content was later removed. I have also repaired the game multiple times.

Hi @sim_katuwal

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Good Luck

Re: Sim 4 Cooking error

★★ Novice

I literally just had this start happening today. No mods; no CC.

At first I thought it was something about either Grand Meals or the Winterfest holiday specifically. It did not matter which adult sim was tasked with cooking or if it was a regular meal vs. Grand Meal.

I worked backwards from the changes I'd made in the kitchen and nothing fixed it... until I saw I'd some festive paper lanterns to the ceiling in the kitchen. Removing my holiday decorations from the ceiling fixed the issue and the holiday could progress normally. I've never had that issue before and wonder if it's something new since patch day?
