Scientist and Botanist Does Not Get Paid

[ Edited ]
★★★★ Novice

Product: The Sims 4 Get to Work
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? the latest one? I just updated the game today so whatever the last patch for the chinese new year
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? ALL CURRENT ONES
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playing Scientist career and going to work with sim. And playing with Botanist and staying at home to work.
What happens when the bug occurs? I do not get paid at all ($0), I do not get any bonus Simoleons after promotions, and/or I get paid very little (only happens with Botanist)
What do you expect to see? I expect to get paid like I used to with past game files and hope Botanist to get paid according to their $/hr wage!
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. After installing Seasons (Botanist) and after installing new patch (Scientist)

So I just started a new game file and this is the first thing that happens. I have already deleted my older game files to see if there was an issue with that. I even disabled mods for a bit and that didn't help. I also tried to test it on other careers which led me to this post!

The original issue I had was with my Botanist. She was working from home all the time and never went to work in the rabbit hole. She would get paid $0 or $10. Eventually I stopped playing her and deleted her file. This was around November 2018.

Fast forward 3 months, I start a new file right after I update to this latest patch for the Chinese New Year items.

Honey Lemon, my sim, is starting a career as a Scientist, and just started her job (first day) and she gets promoted to Scientist [2] and never received her Bonus $192. She did however get paid for her 9 hours she was there (wage at $24/hr a total of 9 hours equaling to $216 max) and her items (Journey to the Stars poster, and new clothes).

The following shift, she receives $0 for her $32/hour 9 hour shift. Both times she works, she does Gold for her Job that day so there is no reason why she would be getting paid $0!

I have attached pictures of my current gameplay with Honey Lemon. I haven't taken screenshots of the new ones but will take more here soon if needed. I will test with other Careers as well.

Edit: Just tried repairing my game, and had her promoted. She got her $256 bonus but did not get paid for her shift! Just added a new picture ("scientist bug 3" pic).

So what I ended up doing was removing all my files, starting the game fresh with NO mods/CC, played a new file for a moment, couldnt reproduce the issue. so I put back my files, with the mods/cc and it was still doing it. Then I tried again but removing JUST my adult Mod and it works. I'm going to try reinstalling the mod since I just updated it today and try it again and see if the problem got fixed or not.

Edit: it wasn't that mod that was causing the issue, it was a 12 hour work day mod. Took it out and it works now Standard smile

HI @amaixyasai

have you ever tried renaming your user files and repairing your game on Origin ?

If not. try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Happy Gaming
