Re: Sims 3 wont launch from origin

@MomoDufrasne  The Mac version works a little differently, so I don't think that's a useful test, unfortunately.  I don't even know if Origin has a way to block content in the Mac version as it does in Windows—at least, I've never seen a clear case where it has.

If you're sure that nothing from McAfee is still running on your computer, and please do check the Task Manager's background processes list, I don't know of another reason this would be happening.  Since this problem surfaced a couple of years ago, there has really only been one cause that both prevents the launcher from opening and leaves no errors in a dxdiag or the Reliability Monitor.

However, if you have a little time on your hands (say, half an hour), you could try running a repair install of Windows 10.  This would give you as clean a version of Windows as you could get short of wiping your entire computer, which you shouldn't need to do.  It would also bring your version of Windows up to date; your current build is from fall 2020.

If you use the option to create an ISO and mount it internally, you won't need a USB drive or anything else.  This process is supposed to allow you to keep all your personal data, but if you get to step 13 and do NOT see the option to keep personal files and apps, back out and start over.

I'm not sure if I'm adding my issues w/ Sims 3 to this thread the right way but I to can't get it load. Tried everything that was mentioned( that i noticed) Nothing seems to work.  I do remember experiencing this issue ages ago when it did merge. Just wanted to go back and play. Laptop PC supports Sims 4 with no problem

Re: Sims 3 crashing after launcher

@LadyDiva32  You added exactly the right info, and enough for me to see that you actually have a different issue.  So I've moved your post to the thread for that issue, which is that DirectX 9 isn't properly installed.  You can manually install it as described in this post earlier in the thread:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/SIMS-3-GAME-WON-T-LAUNCH-WINDOWS-10/m-p/10711778#M2478...

Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

Hi, I've tried everything that you have suggested in other threads and nothing is working. I press play while on the origin app and it minimises for a second and then opens it up again. I'm not sure what to do I think it might just be my computer. I don't know if I did it right but I saved my dxdiag if that helps. Also, after I deleted origin the hard way when I open it now it doesn't load anything other than like the structure of the tab if you get what I mean.

Re: Sims 3 launcher wont start

@Lydlovescake  I've moved your post to the master thread for your particular issue.  For Sims 3, you'll need to manually install DirectX 9, as described here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/SIMS-3-GAME-WON-T-LAUNCH-WINDOWS-10/m-p/10711778#M2478...

For the Origin issue, please clear its cache and uninstall it "the hard way," as described in these articles:

https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

Reinstall Origin using the full installer (direct download link):

http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Run the installer as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart when you're done, and run Origin itself as an admin too.  If it still doesn't open, let me know.

Sims 3 wont launch

★★★ Newbie

I've just downloaded tsm3 and 2 expansions. I've just tried opening it through origin and it comes off for a few seconds and goes back on, I tried just clicking the icon on my desktop and nothing. I read some solutions like turning Wi-Fi  off, removing tsm3 file from the EA folder but nothing is working. I'm not the best with computers so any help would be greatly appreciated.
