Could you help me find a laptop under $300? I’ve been scouring the internet and can’t find one, will this one work?

Re: Looking to buy this laptop; Will it run Sims 4?

@swhite1995  That laptop would technically run Sims 4, but not well at all.  There are better options even for under $300.  This is the best one I've found just now:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/416132914

It should be able to run the all current packs together on low-medium or medium graphics settings.  I'm not sure whether it's available near you, but if so, it's a very good choice in thie price range.

If you can't find that laptop near you and can't get it delivered, let me know and I'll look for other options.  The others I saw on Walmart's site just now aren't great, but I can look elsewhere.

@puzzlezaddict Hello! I know you get a lot of these messages, I was wondering if you would recommend this laptop to play sims 4 and maybe Minecraft.

Re: Looking to buy this laptop; Will it run Sims 4?

@swhite1995  On my end, the site says "check availability nearby," so please click that if you have the option.  If you don't, then perhaps it's not available anywhere near you.  I don't let the browser report my location, so it wouldn't know where to look on my end.

Re: Looking to buy this laptop; Will it run Sims 4?

@bf44506653c8bb18  That laptop is showing as $630 for me.  Regardless, it should be able to run Sims 4 on medium-high or high graphics settings, depending on how many packs you install and other factors like your playstyle.  Its one advantage over cheaper laptops in the same performance category is its extra RAM, but I don't know that that's worth the price premium when many laptops can be upgraded, including these:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-aspire-vero-green-pc-laptop-15-6-full-hd-12th-gen-intel-core-i5-12...

The last two have twice the storage, and while that's not necessary for Sims 4 alone, you might appreciate it if your Minecraft data takes up a lot of space.

All of these are in the same performance category as the one you've linked: they should all run Sims 4 within a few percentage points of each other.  I don't know enough about Minecraft to give you a good idea of how these would run it, but I do know that Minecraft can run on very low-end computers, so at worst, you might have to turn down the settings.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

Re: Looking to buy this laptop; Will it run Sims 4?

@swhite1995  What do you think of this one?  It's $310, it's new, it has enough RAM and storage for Sims 4 and a decent-enough processor and graphics chip that you should be able to play with all current packs installed.

There are also some open-box options listed, but those will depend on your location.

These two refurbished options have the same hardware and just differ by model and screen type and size:

The first one is the better option because it's new, but if you're going for a refurbished model, any of these will be fine.  You'll notice they all run Windows in S mode, so you'll need to "upgrade" to Home before you can install Sims 4.  But this is simple and can be done in a few clicks.
