Playing Sims 3 on windows8.1, game crashes every time.

I installed Sims 3 on my gaming windows 8.1 PC. I did everything as directed, and when I play the game it crashes about 20 minutes into playing. I already uninstalled it and re-installed it twice, and I still have the same problem. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the game? I just got the computer and there are no issues with it, I have antivirus and firewall, so I have no idea what to do so I can play my game. Please help.
