Pet taken away after adopting

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.53.115.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except island living, laundry, fitness and bowling
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Choose adopt pet, when pet comes to house adopt it.
What happens when the bug occurs? I adopt the pet and get the 200 taken away but it doesn’t show up in the household unless I go into cas. The adoption evaluation won’t end when I choose to end it. But when it does end it says the pet was taken away.
What do you expect to see? Once adopted the pet should be added to my household and the adoption evaluation should end leaving me with the pet.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This has been happening before the newest update. At first I just figured it was a glitch during that time I was playing.

@crinrict Yeah I repaired the game and went through all the mods and cc I have. Don’t exactly know what it was but it’s now working. Thank you everyone for all the help!

@blueba100 Does it happen reproducibly if you adopt another pet ?

- Are you living in a house or an apartment ?
- Which world are you living in ?
- What kind of Sims are you playing (normal, vampire, ..)

@blueba100Do you get a pop up asking you to confirm the adoption process? Do they hug (large dogs only)? Any vfx? Moodlets? Relationship/Reputation gain?

Or even better a "Name your newly adopted pet!" dialog?

I get the pop up to confirm the adoption and asking to name the pet. They did hug the dog and there is the animation when they hug. The sim has the moodlet a dog to call my own (from adopting a dog) and there is a relationship with it.

It happens all the time. An apartment it’s in culpepper apartments. But I did try to adopt in a house on a different saved game. And they are normal sims.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

• Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
• Tray Folder
• Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
• Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
• Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
• Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
