Origin crashes when I try to download additional content that comes with new expansions

I have recently purchased sims 3 with 6 expansion packs, I have only loaded 2 expansions, pets and supernatural, but after I register the game on sims.com, it says I have additional content to download but everytime I click download, origin crashes and it doesn't download anything, can anyone help? is there something I am doing wrong?

Try the following

1. Start Origin
2. Click Play on Origin to start the launcher
3. Close Origin (completely not just minimize)
4. Click add to game on the exchange or download on Store Stuff.

an you start the launcher or does that crash origin too ?

What's your operating system ?

I can open and play sims through the origin laucher, and I can log in to sims.com, on the screen it says that I own the content but when I click download to add it to my game I get popup box saying origin has crashed, I am running windows 8, do you know what I can do to fix it? everything is up to date

When you click download, is the launcher and/or the game running ?

No neither are running, both game and launcher are closed

Try the following

1. Start Origin
