I had the same issue with my account, but i have found a work around.
1: click "Add to wishlist"
2: Click 'View in wish list"
3: Click "get the game"
if you do it this way it seems to work. well it did for me

How do I get it for free without origin?
You need Origin. Only option.

The game won't open at all. on origin the play button is grayed out and the app on my home page won't open as well. I uninstalled origin and reinstalled it and i tried to logout and it said "Sims 4 is still running, please close the game before continuing ." though the game isn't opened at all. my pc has all the requirements but i still can't play
Try these: https://crinrict.com/blog/2014/09/play-button-wont-unlock.html
If none of these work, please create your own thread in the Origin forum: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/bd-p/origin-technical-issues-en

I have the game but when I run origin and try to log in it says sorry could not connect to a server, please try again, i've tried to run the game since it was free and it is always saying this
Check if you're firewall and Antivirus if they are not blocking the connection
If these work, please create your own thread in the Origin forum: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/bd-p/origin-technical-issues-en

I got a fix for this problem. All you have to do is click on the game and then on "Add to wishlist". Next you have to go to your wishlist and hit "Get for free" it should say that the game is now added to you library and ask you if you want to download it!

HI @h4rini
Could you please create your own thread in the Mac forum here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/bd-p/The-Sims-Mac .Give as much info as possible. Best place to get help for issues like this. This thread is for folks having issues getting the game
Could you try getting it through a different ISP ? Like through your mobile connection and not your home one ? Also try rebooting your router.
Good Luck

When my installation of Sims 4 is finalizing I have an error VC++ Error (1612). I have tried following instructions from https://help.ea.com/en-au/help/origin/origin/your-vc-runtime-package-has-not-installed-correctly-err... but when I try to repair/install the 2010vc 64 thing, it says that I need to verify it's location, etc. The same thing goes for the 84 bit one but the 2013 versions download normally. (Error is the 2010 version, idk what to do). I might've also * it up by replacing the 2010 84bit with a new one so when I go and try to run it it gives me a message saying it detected a newer version on my computer xD. Please help me if you can.

Yes. Used mobile data, different service provider, signed in and "bought" the game. Now downloading. Thank you.
