No sound in-game, but sound works on laptop

Hey so when I play Sims I cannot hear anything, but of course while the game is still running I switch applications to windows media player and the sound works fine. If anyone has any idea what's wrong please let me know! Thank you!

Is your computer a pc or Mac? Did the sound ever work? How is the sound setup? Are you using audio out? HDMI? Optical?

I have a pc, msi gaming laptop. and ya the sound has worked before. How do I check what kind of sound do I use? I just use my laptop speakers
