My game saves are still there on file, but not when I set up my game.

★★★★ Novice

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me.

I am playing the Sims 4 and I have an issue. My game saves are still there, on my laptop files (where they're meant to be) but when I set up my game, they're not, and it's acting like I just got the Sims, and including my custom content (which are also still correct in their file), which doesn't load on my screen as well.

Hopefully someone can help, many thanks Standard smile

@thelewisimmers  I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech section.

It sounds like the game is reading a different user folder than it used to.  You'll need to move your saves and other content into that new folder for it to work.  Here's how to find the correct folder:

@puzzlezaddict Hi, thank you for that but the thing is they're in the folders they are meant to be in. See screenshot below (just note, personal information has been crossed out).

@thelewisimmers  Your Sims 4 folder, the one with your saves, cc, and anything else you want to use, needs to be in Documents\Electronic Arts.  If it's anywhere else, the game won't be able to read it and will create a new folder instead.  If you look in Documents\EA, you'll see the new folder that the game is currently using.  Delete it and then copy or move the Sims 4 folder in your screenshot to where it's supposed to be.

@thelewisimmers  Sorry, I didn't see your post before I went to bed.

Can you upload screenshots of the contents of Sims 4 game folder and of the Saves folder?  The same format as before works fine.  I want to see if there's anything weird about the setup (like files that shouldn't be there or something), and the last modified dates on a couple of the files.

Haha! Gotta love time zones.

There you go.

@thelewisimmers  Yeah, keeping track of time zones is always fun.

The issue is that your saves are still not in a place where the game can read them.  The file path shown is Desktop > The Sims 4 > Electronic Arts, but it needs to be Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

If you open a File Explorer window, then click Documents, then Electronic Arts, you'll see a new Sims 4 folder, the one the game created when it couldn't find the old folder.  That's the one TS4 is reading now, and the Saves folder inside is where your old saves need to be.  Anywhere else, and TS4 won't know they exist.
