My Sims 4 tells me im not connected to the Origin and it wont let me play

I bought / downloaded the Sims 4 December 2015 and I have never got to play it since.. It says that im not connected to the Origin and im unable to play.. Can someone please help me and tell me what to do I would like to play the game that I spent $50 on. Thank you!

Do you have some security software that might be blocking the connection?
