My Sims 4 game is going tremendously slow

Okay, the game is going SOOO slow it’s aggravating???? Like it’s lagging horribly, it wont run smoothly for over 5 seconds. Its a constant pause and the music overlaps itself. Any ideas on how to help? Im tryin to work on my storage to see if thatz the problem but so far nothing
