My Sims 4 game fails to start (no errors)

I've tried unistalling and redownloading,

unistalling and reinstalling origin downloaded newly from the website,

performing a "repair" of the game through Origin,

restarting my computer (including the "clean boot"),

using the installer files located in the sims 4 "_installer" folder,

updating directx runtimes,

updated the visual redistributables,

running Origin as an administrator,

running The Sims 4 as an administrator,

running both Origing and The Sims 4 as an administrator at the same time,

allowing "ea acitvation" and "origin" on my firewall settings.

Nothing works, the game simply will not launch, there are no errors or any visual idications of any problems. I've tried to start the game through Origin as well as trying to run the game by using the executable. I try to play the game, my cursor spins, and nothing else happens.

UPDATE: The CAS Demo works fine

UPDATE 2: Safe mode with networking does not work, Safe mode without networking does not work, cleaning registry with CCleaner does not work

UPDATE 3: Using the command line to perform a system check shows no errors, clearing all three origin cache folders does not work, using another user account does not work, windows update has no available updates, Origin in offline mode does not work

This is in NO WAY...a satisfiable work around...or ACCEPTABLE one for many/most people, BUT I was able to get my sims to work after wiping my harddrive and doing a fresh install of windows. I only did this since I have copies of windows on hand and do it often anyways, along with backing up my files.

For me I ended up returning to Windows 8.1, specifically I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1

So I'm not sure what the issue was, an undectable registry or system errror? Incompatable software/driver? Something to do with Windows 7?

Same issue. The only way I can get any progress is by running the "diagnostic boot" in msconfig. It's not much progress because under this mode I cannot connect to a network. But when I try to run the sims, it atleast makes a "ea game verification" pop up (which I cannot do due to no network connection).

I installed the Deluxe game last night, only took me 7 1/2 hours, but I finally did get to play for one hour. So after playing I shut my PC down. This morning I turn my PC back on and now the PLAY button for the Sims 4 won't highlite (in the My Games section of Origins). When I double click the TS4.exe file, nothing happens.

I am connected to the Interenet, Origins is connected and showing me as "online". I did not get any error messages. I never installed or used the demo. I have one other game in the Installed Games section of my Origins Library and it's PLAY button does highlite. I am using Vista.

I reinstalled Origin and it had no effect, same problem, the PLAY button does not highlite and clicking on the TS4.exe does nothing.

Since I was able to play the game for 1 hour, I know it works on my PC. But after I shutting down and booting up, is when it would no longer launch.

So now I'm in the same boat as the first poster, my game won't start.

After speaking with an EA Rep, she told me to do this and it worked. Clear the Origin Cache. I'll copy and paste the instructions but please give credit to where it is due by clicking here and seeing her original post:

Try Clearing out the origin cache

  1. Ensure Origin is fully closed by clicking the Origin Menu and selecting Exit.
  2. Delete the following folders:
  • Origin folder - Found in C:\ProgramData\
  • Origin folder - Found in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\
  • Origin folder - Found in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\
  • Note: These folders are hidden by default, and the player will need to un-hide to be able to locate them.

to unhide folders:

-type folder options in the search field in the start menu

-click on the view tab

-under the hidden folders options click show hidden files, folders, and drives- apply the setting and click ok

My game is up and running now....  Confusedmileyvery-happy:

@pelayo319 You don not have a whole lot of free disc space (33 GB). Maybe try to free some up ?

Also did you check if your Antivirus isnt' running a virus check ? What are you using ?

@crinrict I honestly don't think the disk space is an issue, I had more than the required disk space for the installation of the game before downloading and installing it. Also I am using Norton Interntet Security Version 21.1.5.0.19 as well as the Enhanced Mitgation Experience Toolkit, both of which i had completely disabled and the game would not run. I could also not get the game to run while using Safe Mode or the "Clean Boot".

My current situation is that not a single person is able to get my game to work. I spoke with EA support directly on Wendsday, they could not help me either. They told me they had to escalate my problem to a higher leve. So my current situation is that I am waiting for a "Specialist Team" to provide me with some kind of answer to get my game to work.

I'm heading onto a week now of not being able to play the game I spent sixty dollars on. This is the second time in a row EA has troubled me, the first being unable to play Sim City for weeks after its release. I am more than likely not giving EA any of my buisness in future.

Hero

There are so many factors involved.

There was a guy the other week who had a VPN installed that would mess up the demo although it was not running so it really could be any number of things.

I hope the specialist team can help you further.
