My Sims 3 isnt working :/

I've had this game for like a year now and it still won't work. I've updated and tried on several computers but no luck. I can get custom content and such but when I am in the launcher and I click play it takes me into the game and through the intro but when it gets to first loading screen it shuts off my whole laptop!
