Missing Save File

★★★ Novice

Went to play tonight, and Sims loaded without my current household. I definitely saved the game (got into the habit of periodically saving the game file from Sims 3 crashes) Only played with one household and the game ran fine yesterday when I loaded them up. Is this a bug or I am I doing something wrong?

Hi jodie1234567890,

What is in your save folder?

WINDOWS

FILES STILL IN SAVES FOLDER:

  1. Exit the game
  2. Open your Documents and then Electronic Arts - C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\Documents\Electronic Arts\
  3. Open The Sims 4 and locate the saves folder. - \\The Sims 4\saves
  4. Remove the FIRST save file to somewhere else or just delete it - Slot_00000001.save
  5. Find the latest save file - Slot_00000001.save.ver4
  6. Take out the ".ver4" so that it looks like Slot_00000001.save
  7. Restart the game

The latest version (.ver4) is the latest save file of the game ... however, it may not be exactly where you left off. It is still better than nothing.

FILES NOT IN SAVES FOLDER:

  1. Exit the game
  2. Click the START BUTTON (Or "WINDOWS ICON") > All programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore
  3. Perform System Restore to early time
  4. Once System Restore complete, restart game
  5. Load your save file and enjoy!

If game still cannot recognize any save files, please follow the previous steps for FILES STILL IN SAVES FOLDER

I hope this helps!
