Logging in for the FIrst time

After registering my game with my new account, i still cannot log in.  The game keeps saying that i have to be online for the first loggin. How in the $&*# am i supposed to tell if im logged in online or whatever?! Its really starting to make me mad because i cant figure out this stupid game. I need help, and quickly. Thanks.

Are you online in Origin? Can you access the store?
