Internet connection

Hello! I've just gotten The Sims 3 for my PC laptop and I'd like to install it. I was able to install Origin just fine, but now I'm stuck in the Origin Login screen. I try logging in, but it throws up an error that I need internet to log in to Origin. My internet is working just fine, as you will see by the UO Trace that I ran. It's working perfectly. I also included a picture of the screen with the error where I'm stuck and my Internet connection status. I also know that Sims will not work using a proxy server so I double-checked those settings and was delighted to find that the option for a proxy was not checked in the Internet options. I know that sometimes, somehow that happens and can mess up some games. This time, it wasn't that. Please, if you can offer any assistance, anybody, I would be grateful.

@ADesHotel971  There are a number of reasons Origin has been throwing that error recently, and therefore a number of fixes to try:

  • Make sure Origin.exe is allowed through any antivirus/firewall programs you have installed.
  • Allow your computer to sync with Internet time.  If it's off, even by less than a minute, Origin can refuse to connect.
  • Remove all USB storage devices and make sure they've been ejected properly.  To go further, temporarily uninstall any USB mass storage devices from Device Manager.
  • Try a different wifi network, e.g. one at a coffee shop or library.

If none of this helps, clear Origin's cache (if it has any cache files yet), uninstall Origin "the hard way," and try a legacy version of Origin instead.  If that doesn't work, clear cache and uninstall again, then try the Origin full installer.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you, ma'am or sir! I went through most all of the steps you provided before inquiring aboot a solution, and nothing worked until I uninstalled the Origin program and used your Legacy Installer link. Thank you so much! You have saved the day! You are, indeed, my hero!
