Every time I try to launch from the desktop, or origin it won't even open at all. I keep getting a message that says "The Sims 4 has stopped working".
I've tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested by mods, and quite a few things suggested by other users and nothing seems to work.
I've tried:
Running after cleanboot
Changing / disabling anitvirus settings
Repairing it through Origin
Updating my drivers
Windowed mode...
Uninstalling and reinstalling (MULTIPLE times)
running in different compatibilities (XP, windows 7)
moving the .exe files from the bin folder and replacing it blah blah blah
If anyone could help or suggest something new it would be much appreciated.
I'm in the same boat as you, really have no clue what else to do

A complete reinstall of windows has solved my problem.
Feels bad.

Yup - a complete re-install of Win 8 pro and I was able to start the game, first try. An extreme fix but it seems to work.

Please help. Origin says I need to give windows permission to download the Sims 4. I have literally tried everything and nothing can fix it.

I just purchased the game today from Target. I'm from the Seattle area. I am in no way a stranger to how long it takes to install any version of the Sims yet I have never encountered the problem I am having with this version.
I put disk 1 into my computer and followed the prompts to set up an Origin account and moved forward from that point. It opened the installer window thing and began the "copy" process, which took about 3 hours (really) and now it's asked me to insert disk 2, done. For 2 hours now it has sat at 7% of "installing" my DVD drive isn't even making sounds or lights.
5 hours into this and I still can't play it simply because it seems to have stopped installing. In this amount of time I could have installed my Sims 2 and all of the expansion packs that go with it and been playing by now.
Is it normal for it to take this long? Did something happen to make it stop?
