  • If you see a “Your games need your help” error message when launching The Sims 3, click Later to get back into your game.
  • If you’ve repaired your game through Origin already, you may be having trouble launching it.

While we’re working with the Origin team to resolve this, there are several things you can try to get your game working:

1) Downloading and installing the Super Patch  - this is a fix that has worked for some users

Spoiler

2) Reinstalling Origin

Spoiler
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Origin
  • Download Origin from here: http://origin.com/download
  • Try again

If neither of the above suggestions work, do a complete reinstallation of your games. Please follow the following steps carefully:

3) Complete reinstallation

 a) Back up your saved games

Spoiler
  • Go to My Documents.
  • Select the Electronic Arts folder.
  • Right-click The Sims 3 folder and select Copy.
  • Right-click on the folder or drive where you want to save your backup and select Paste.
  • Make sure you re-name your copy and include 'backup' in the file name to avoid confusion.

 b) Uninstall The Sims 3 and expansions

Spoiler
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features
  • Click on The Sims 3 in the list of programs and choose Uninstall.
  • Check for Sims 3 expansions in the list, and remove any you have installed.
  • Restart your computer to apply the changes

 c) Download and update The Sims 3 through Origin

Spoiler
  • Log in to Origin
  • If you have a disk copy of The Sims 3 or of any of the expansions, and you can’t see them in Origin, you’ll need to redeem your code(s) in Origin.
  • Click on Origin, then on Redeem Product Code, and then enter your game or expansion code.
  • Once you’ve redeemed your codes, download and install The Sims 3 and your expansions.
  • When your downloads and installation are finished, launch The Sims 3 and click Game Updates in the launcher.
    • If you can’t see a Game Updates option, click Refresh.
  • The launcher will update your game to the latest version.
    • Check that the game version showing on the launcher is version 1.67.2.024017.
  • Move your backed-up save games back into My Documents.
  • Launch The Sims 3.

A hotfix has been pushed through Origin that prevents the auto-repair function from breaking Sims 3.

Players already affected by this issue will need to reinstall Origin.

Thanks for your patience! Standard smile

EDIT: if the above is not enough, do the following steps:

  • Update Origin to the most current version (7.2.53208)
  • Uninstall Sims 3 and the associated expansion packs
  • Re-download and install the game via the Origin Client
  • Update the game via the Sims 3 Game Launcher (update to version 1.67.2.024017)
