I need help with the sims 3 university before i cry my eyes out, please?!

I got the game, the sims 3, and i didnt want to make an origin account so i used my friends & she has the whole expansion pack on hers, so i really wanted to install sims 3 university like so much! & ive tried 4 times, sat in front of the computer and waited literally out of excitment and every time i try, when it gets to 100% it says 'sims 3 is running somewhere else'' or something and it just cancels? pleaase, someone help me. 
Well, you can't share accounts. If you're friend is still playing, you'll need to get your own.
