I get a flickering screen when I switch resolution to 3840 X 2160

★★★ Newbie

When I try and switch The Sims 4 resolution to 3840 x 2160 (4k) I get a flickering screen between white and black with music still playing and mouse still seen. after about 30 seconds it reverts back to 1920x1080. Any idea on what might be happening?

I know my system can handle this I just got the new x99 motherboard with 5930k and 16gb of DDR4 and running two GTX 780's in SLI.

Hello,

I do not think The Sims 4 is able to fully support the 4K (3840x2160) resolution yet. However, you could try the 2560x1440 resolution, as this seems to have worked for users. But I agree that your system should be able to support the game at Ultra settings at such resolutions (in my opinion, that system is a bit overpowered for The Sims 4, so I hope you're utilising such power for other games).

I hope this helps and keep simming,

Cody

The Sims 4 (Samsung UHD 4 Monitor) Full Screen Crash

★★★ Newbie

Hi,  I'm trying to play the Sims 4 in full screen using a 4k UHD monitor with resolution of 3840x2160.  The screen keeps flickering and crashing the client.  I went into the settings file and changed it to window mode and it works fine at that resolution.  It just seems that the full screen won't go.  The Nvidia Drivers are up to date.

Windows 8

Intel Core i7-4770k CPU 3.50Hz

Installed memory 16GB

GeForce GTX 780

Hi, I know this post is years old but I was just recently having the same issue and this was the most up to date relevant post I could find. Anyway it seems a few EA games have had the same issues and as a result a "Windowed Full Screen" mode has been added. For all intents and purposes it looks the exact same as full screen mode just doesn't cause flickering and in my case even eases up on CPU use. Just posting this in case anyone else ever comes searching for answers to a similar issue Angel
